Happy Independence Day

For what avail the plough or sail, or land or life, if freedom fail?

  1. I seem to recall that that house was once said to be owned by Patricia Kennedy Lawford.

And I agree that the experimental styles of many houses on Meadow Lane ("Dune Road") were very intriguing to me as a kid. Some have survived better than others, many were torn down and replaced by "tasteful" shingle style houses in the 80's. The 60's and 70's really were an interesting time, people with money and daring taste hired creative architects for fanciful beach homes. I somewhat regret the retreat to more conservative styles- It's important to remember the creativity and even whimsy of that aesthetically minded era in the Hamptons.
